Dr. Jean Baptiste Nkurunziza holds a PhD in Chemistry from Mangalore University (India, 2019), a Postgraduate Certificate for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from former Kigali Institute of Education-KIE, now University of Rwanda College of Education (UR-CE), 2011. He also holds a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Jain University (India, 2011) and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the National University of Rwanda, 2005. He joined the former Kigali Institute of Education as an academic staff in 2009. His research interest lies in the synthesis of novel bioactive compounds and in science education pertaining to the topics such as integration of ICT in science education and designing low-cost materials for effective teaching and learning of Chemistry. He has a good number of publications in national and international journals. He is an active member of the African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS) at the UR-CE.
