ACADEMIC PROFILE OF DR WELLARS UTETIWABO

UTETIWABO Wellars is Rwandan by Nationality. He has received his Philosophy degree in Chemistry at Beijing Institute of Technology, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering/P.R.China on December 10, 2021. He holds a master’s degree in Natural Science/Physical Chemistry obtained from Xiamen University, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering/P.R.China on June 30, 2012, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education at the University of Rwanda in December 2016. In 2008, He has also had a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry-Education from the former National University of Rwanda (NUR), Faculty of Education (Rwanda).

Currently, He is a Lecturer of Chemistry at the University of Rwanda(UR), College of Education. From 2015 to 2017, he was an Assistant Lecturer of Chemistry at the University of Rwanda-College of Education, Rukara Campus, and from 2013 to 2015, he worked as a Tutor of Chemistry at Kavumu College of Education. He also worked as Lecturer of Chemistry in international private Universities based in Rwanda, and a national private university in Rwanda.

During his Ph.D. program at the Beijing Institute of Technology, he has received “Distinguished International Students awards” in the academic year 2020-2021.

His research area focuses on :
- Te design and development of carbon-based electrode material for electrochemical energy conversion and storage : Supercapacitor, Sodium-ion batteries ;
- Development of electrocatalyst for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFCs) ;
- Turning industrial waste material (waste plastic and other waste) into high value-added material to be applied for energy storage devices ;
- Design and development of anodes materials for Lithium-ion Batteries via greener method,
- The research in Teaching and learning science Education, mainly chemistry. His published works are found via https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0104-5601.
