The project organized various industrial visits for students who attended the boot camp to provide them with an opportunity to see how scientific principles learned in the classroom are applied in real-world industrial settings. This practical exposure helped the students bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Physics students group
Industrial visit which was a big milestone to students because it provided a vital insight to the real working environment and students interacted with experienced personnel at working stations. It was a big opportunity to understand how simple idea or small project plays a big role in building the industries at large scale.
It also helps in inspiring them to keep pursuing science for their future careers. Furthermore, visiting industries helped students to link the content learnt in the class and its application in solving problems found in real- life. During this visit, students from made a study tour on solar energy at Hope Haven Christian Secondary School.
The students learnt a lot, particularly on how solar energy is converted into electrical energy by the use of solar panel or SVP module.
They also learnt the fundamental principles for house wiring system. After a field visit, the students in physics group were eager to learn physics by putting into practice what they had learned in theory.
Chemistry group
Chemistry students visited Sulfo Rwanda Industries. They saw how the soap is produced at an industry scale; how packaged drinking water is obtained, and the way used to produce cosmetics and detergent as they were producing them at class level. During the field visit on 14th September 2023, the students visited two main departments which are Soaps, Packaged Drinking Water and Cosmetics, Plastics & Detergent. After visiting the aforementioned industry, the students have shown an interest in learning chemistry subject due to its vital role in solving daily life problems by applying the acquired skills and competences developed during chemistry learning. The produced products have many applications in human daily life which has motivated them to develop creativity and innovation; as well as entrepreneurial spirit. They were eager to learn Picture Chemistry students at Sulfo Rwanda Industry.
