The African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS) is one of 24 Eastern and Southern Africa Higher Education Centres of Excellence under the World Bank’s ACE II Project. The primary aim of ACEITLMS is to strengthen human capacity for delivering quality teaching and learning in mathematics and science, both in Rwanda and across the region.
Through this centre, the University of Rwanda - College of Education has successfully offered the CPD-ITMS program for mathematics and science teachers, targeting educators from upper primary to lower secondary levels. ACEITLMS’s unwavering commitment to improving the standards of mathematics and science education is evident in the initiatives implemented in collaboration with the University of Rwanda - College of Education. Under the RQBE-HCD project sub-component 1.2, the centre has facilitated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training programs specifically tailored for mathematics and science teachers.
These CPD training sessions not only equip educators with advanced pedagogical strategies and subject-matter expertise but also contribute significantly to improving students’ academic outcomes.
