The project has created scripted lessons covering the entire Mathematics and Science curricula, spanning from P4 to S3 in all science subjects and mathematics. Those scripted lessons integrate the technology, the content and the pedagogy into a complete yet simple package for them to use in the classroom using laptops and projectors.
A scripted lesson is a written, structured material/document that directly highlights the key elements and concepts of an individual lesson. It suggests activities and resources and informs teachers, indirectly, about techniques and strategies to be used to help students achieve the desired learning outcomes. Scripted lessons are very important in teaching and learning as they help students actively engage with the subject content, thereby increasing their achievement.
The Scripted lessons developed by the project are expected to lighten the burden of lesson preparation and time management during lesson delivery. Formative assessment is embedded into each lesson, and this encourages peer-to-peer interactions among the students; videos and other digital material relating to teaching practice also encourage experimentation and the sharing of experiences among teachers. These lessons are in line with the Rwandan Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) framework and have been developed using One note software.
