The University of Rwanda’s College of Education has recently handed over Certificates of Merit to twenty seven (27) undergraduate students following their high scores in the first trimester of academic year 2018-2019.
The primary purpose of these awards is to celebrate and recognize the success of high-performing students as enshrined in the University of Rwanda’s Revised General Academic Regulations for undergraduate programmes amended and approved by the Academic Senate of the 21st November 2018. In light of 229, ‘‘a student who completes her/his modules with high scores shall be recognized for his/her academic achievement and her/his name shall appear on a list known as the Principal’s Roll of Honor’’.
The article further stipulates that '' to qualify to be on the Roll of Honor, a student shall score no less than 65% in a module at first sitting and shall have a cumulative trimester average of at least 80%’’. In this respect, the best performing students who were honored with Certificates scored 85, 85% down to 80%. Please refer to the attached Principal’s Roll of Honor for details.
Prof. Cyprien NIYOMUGABO, the Dean of the School of Education, who presided over the ceremony commended the awarded students for their commitment and urged them to score even higher. He assured them continued support of the School Council for achieving their obligations as learners.
The function was attended by members of the School of Education Council and coincided with the official kick-off of lectures of the third trimester (academic year 2018-2019) on Rukara Campus..
