PROFILE OF MS ASTERIE NYIRAHABIMANA

Mrs Astérie Nyirahabimana has over 10 Years working experience in teaching, training and coaching in Education and English Language as a medium of instruction related courses in Rwanda.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons)English with Education and QTS with upper second class Honours, from the College of Education (The then Kigali Institute of Education) University of Rwanda, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the college of Education, University of Rwanda. She is also a PhD student in Education by distance at University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. Besides her academic qualifications, she holds several certificates notably a certificate in Learning and Teaching In Higher Education from College of Education, University of Rwanda ; a certificate in Advanced Certification in English Language Teaching : English Language Teaching Practice from University of Oregon, College of Arts and Sciences ; American English Institute, USA ; a certificate in Introduction to Pedagogy and Practices for Teaching English To Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from University of Oregon, College of Arts and Sciences ; American English Institute, USA.

Currently, Nyirahabimana is an Assistant Lecturer at College of Education, University of Rwanda since 2015 when the University of Rwanda was created, but she has been an academic member of the former Kigali Institute of Education at its affiliated Kavumu College of Education since 2011.

As an academic staff, She is involved in 1) Teaching and learning where she facilitates education related modules for Undergraduate students in the department of Early Childhood and Primary Education ; 2) Community Outreach where is conducting various Continuous Professional Developments in Educational Mentoring and Coaching, Adult Literacy’s Education, Monitoring, Research and Evaluation of CPD in School leadership and management ; 3) Research where she is authors and co-authors different articles for publication, attends and participates in conferences and currently she is undergoing PhD studies by distance at University of Aberdeen in Education and she is exploring the contribution of Mothers’ adult literacies to early childhood development ; 4) Administration where she is involved in students disciplinary committee by coaching and mentoring undergraduate students in professional ethics, guiding them in their university path for a better success of their courses.

In addition to her academic involvement, she contributes to the wellbeing and health of the Rwandan Family as she has been since 2016 a Secretary of the Women Council Committee at Shyogwe Sector, Muhanga District where she mobilises and sensitizes families in general and mothers in particular to participate to the Rwandan government aspirations for betterment of its citizens.
