PROFILE OF MR.THEOPHILE NSENGIMANA

ThéOphile Nsengimana is a Lecturer in Biology Section at the University of Rwanda-College of Education since 2018. He holds a Master’s degree in Education specialized in Mathematics and Science Teacher Education from Naruto University of Education, Tokushima, Japan in 2013. He is currently a PhD student in Science Education at the University of Rwanda-College of Education.
He joined former Kavumu College of Education in 2014. Prior to that, Nsengimana has served as National Trainer of Biology in Strengthening Mathematics and Science in Secondary Education (SMASSE) - Rwanda Project for two years, at the same time a secondary school Teacher of Biology for 5 years.
With a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education awarded by the University of Rwanda, he iscurrently interested in exploring the implementation of the Competence-Based Curriculum and the school capacity to innovate.In light of this, Nsengimana has so far published six papers pertained to science curriculum implementation and STEM education.
Nsengimana is as a Member of the Pan-African Scientific Research Council and an associate member of African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS), College of Education-University of Rwanda.
Mr. Nsengimana has attended and presented in different local and international seminars, workshops, and conferences. In this regard, Nsengimana in 2019, went to Nigeria (University of Nigeria) for an international conference where he presented two research papers. In 2020, Mr. Nsengimana presented in 28th SAARMSTE conference which held at Nelson Mandela University, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Nsengimana has also attended trainings and workshops which were aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning of mathematics and science in Malaysia, Zambia, Kenya and Uganda.
