Prof. Wenceslas Nzabalirwa is a PhD holder, Professor of Teacher Education at the University of Rwanda-College of Education (formerly Kigali Institute of Education-KIE). He is both a qualified secondary school teacher and lecturer in higher education. He has taught at university level over twenty years. He has been the Dean of the Education Faculty of KIE over ten years and the Vice Rector of Academics and Research of the same institution for two years.

He sat on various education boards : Member of the foundation Board of Directors of the Rwanda National Council for Higher Education, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Curriculum Development Center and Member of the Rwanda National Commission for UNESCO. He is an academic who is also research and consultancy active in various areas of education including curriculum development, teacher education and training of trainers.

He published articles in peer reviewed journals and authored chapters in refereed books. He also wrote teaching and learning materials for pre-service and in-service secondary school teachers on learner-centered and competence-based approaches, educational mentorship and coaching as well as educational leadership and management. He conducted several workshops on the same themes.
