Birasa Emmanuel, proud graduate of UR-CE, reflects on how his journey shaped him into a responsible and service-minded person.
At the 11th University of Rwanda Graduation Ceremony held on 17 October 2025, Birasa Emmanuel graduated from the University of Rwanda – College of Education (UR–CE) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and Chemistry with Education. For him, this milestone marks not just the end of studies but the culmination of a journey of growth, discipline, and purpose.
During his three years at UR–CE Rukara Campus, Emmanuel combined academic pursuit with service. He served as Guild President at UR–CE for two years and later as Deputy Chairperson in charge of Finance and Administration at the University of Rwanda Headquarters. These leadership roles, he says, strengthened his sense of accountability and teamwork.
“Serving as Guild President taught me that true leadership means serving others and working together for a common goal,” Emmanuel reflects. “My journey at UR–CE has shaped me into a more responsible, confident, and service-minded person.”
Emmanuel describes his graduation as a moment filled with gratitude and reflection. “I feel deeply grateful and proud,” he said. “It’s not just a celebration of finishing school — it’s a celebration of growth, discipline, and perseverance.” His message to fellow students is to stay focused, believe in their potential, and make every opportunity count because “success is built step by step, with faith and hard work.”
Looking ahead, he plans to contribute to the education sector as a teacher of Physics and Chemistry, while pursuing further studies and youth empowerment initiatives.
His aspirations echo the words of UR Chancellor Patricia L. Campbell, who reminded graduates that “amazing things happen when people care” and encouraged them to “use their gifts to serve their community and their country.” Emmanuel’s next steps reflect this call — to give back through education and make a meaningful difference in others’ lives.
