UR-CE students wins the debate on Culture and History of Rwanda

University of Rwanda College of Education students outclassed their counterpart from the University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK) in a debate competition that was organized by TV 10, one of the evolving television stations in Rwanda. The debate is organized in a bid to challenge students on cultural and historical themes where they have to provide accurate answers to questions raised by a panel made of TV anchors and other people with vast knowledge in Rwandan culture and history. 

Speaking after the competition, Mr Lambert Hakizimana one the members of the panel praised both teams for the enthusiasm they demonstrated during the debate and encouraged them to increase their knowledge by making further readings on the country’s history and culture. Hakizimana who is also a renowned author of historian books on Rwanda exhorted contestants to make research which will ultimately help them to be good citizens and responsible leaders of tomorrow.

UR-CE team as a winning team was rewarded a book on Rwandan history, satellite dish and decoder in addition to a monthly subscription of Canal+ full bouquet. Students were received by UR-CE Principal Prof. George Njoroge who congratulated them for their performance which according to him, the University is proud of. He also pledged the University support for other endeavors that they will need to undertake. The debate competition which brings together academic institutions and other individuals is organized every Sunday around the theme “Our Rwanda, our Culture”.
