The Guild Council of the Students’ Union Council 2017-2018 of the University of Rwanda-Nyagatare Campus sworn in on Sunday 04th November 2017 in the presence of the Principal the College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, the Vice Mayor in Charge of Social Affairs in Nyagatare District, Dean and Head of Campus, staff and students.
Members of this Year’s Guild Council at Nyagatare Campus include Guild President Mr. Frank Mugabo, Vice Guild Mr. Justin Irumva, General Secretary Ms. Justine Uwase and many other assistant ministers as prescribed in the UR guild council constitution. In his acceptance speech, Mr.Frank Mugabo, commended the unreserved commitment and zeal in handling students’ matters which have characterized the outgoing committee members. He therefore called upon all his colleague members of the new committee to first of all consider themselves as servants if they are to serve properly their colleagues.

In her remarks, the Vice Mayor in Charge of Social Affairs in Nyagatare District, applauded the successful stories of the outgoing committee that were not only witnessed by their colleagues but also by the surrounding communities. “Members of the outgoing committee have achieved a lot and the District is very proud of the many social activities rendered to the nearby needy people” explained Ms. Domitile, the Vice Mayor.
Dr. Laetitia Nyinawamwiza, Principal of the College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, who also joined the swearing in ceremony discussed the importance of education in making positive impact to the communities and the bigger role that the guild council, supported by the students themselves, have to play. “You, students, do not have to be bystanders in the education that is given to you. You need to challenge your faculty and never accept to be given below standards” highlighted the Principal.

The guild council serves as a unifying body supporting all students’ activities including creating a better fellowship and understanding between the faculty and the students while encouraging a spirit of better service to the large campus community. The elected guild council will serve during the ongoing academic year of 2017-2018.
